Project     Corolla
                   Type X

When I first bought my FX16 GTS in 98, I bought it with the intention of using it as a grocery getter from point A to B.  At the time I needed the fx because I turned my 84 Celica GTS into a project, which the whole crew was working on (22RTE), but that's another story.  After driving the fx for a few weeks I started cheating on my Celica with the fx.  I fell in love with the fx's handling because it came with some Eibach springs and kyb struts; the nimbleness and performance of a front wheel drive.  Knowing myself with my greed for speed, and hard on for performance, I gave a call to my buddy Toney from speed world in Queens NY and there I bought a k&n filter and adapter plate for the air flow meter.  I couldn't wait until I reach home to install my new goodies.  After I installed the filter, I took the MSD & blaster coil from the Celica and hooked it up and then took it for a seat of the pant's dyno test on the belt parkway "grin, smile from ear to ear".  I loved it , I love the sound it made the most when the intake start really sucking air after 4500 rpm.  Oh, on that same run I blazed a BMW 325i.  A few weeks later my greed started kicking in again and again.  Now I want power and speed more , alot more of it.  I got on the phone and started looking for an exhaust system for my fx16, which I found out was a difficult task. All the store's I called through the tri state had nothing for me, due to the fact that this car  was only in the state about 2 1/2 years from 87-89.  Everyone was telling me about customizing my exhaust system, but before I settled for a custom, I decided to reach out and touch my good friend Jorgie from Toy Sport in Cali.  I was in luck, he had an HKS exhaust in stock, and it was the last one  :)  HKS no longer makes them for the FX.  I didn't have the money at the time, so I asked my boss to ordered it for me with a credit card which I paid him when the mercenaries came.  When I got the package I was a little pissed off because the box was opened by my boss :(   nosey fuck!, but I quickly over came my pissed off state of mind when I saw how beautiful the exhaust was.  I quickly got it installed and was pleased.  It wasn't loud at all, and when you step in the throttle the sweet sound it made, and you feel the difference on the highway.  I got myself a dual friction clutch from Toney (speed world), lighten my fly wheel by a few lbs, NGK wires and plugs; 3 angle valve job, and tri y header, and from adco I got a set of sway bars with stiffer bushings, and for a little lower ride a set of Intrax springs with this formula.  I was able to strike fear in the hearts of some hoped up GS and mild worked Vtec's; Owners for even the few times I lost, I still got props but losing to Hondas wasn't acceptable in my book!

Stage II

I got on the web looking for help.  I heard about the Jap spec engines that produce 130-140 hp in stock form, but I found out about the 20 valve vvti which produce 160-165hp@7800 rpm with 120ft lbs of torque@5600 rpm, there was also the U.S. spec supercharger motor producing 145hp@6400 rpm and 137ft lbs of torque, but what caught my eye was the jap spec supercharge engine which came with 170hp@6400 rpm and 152ft lbs of torque @4400 rpm.  Guess which one I went after?  The following day I got on the phone and burned alot of phone cards with no luck, then I remembered about a local guy in Queens who import a lot of Jap spec engines, so I paid him a visit.  He told me he had one on a freight and he should get it with in a week.  1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 weeks went by and so each time I asked the guy what's up, I got more BS excuse that could fill a sewer system.  On the sixth week Darren and I went to the guy because we heard he had just gotten some new shipment.  Darren stuck gold with his 1.5 turbo Jap spec Tercel engine, but me? no luck, not even a U.S. spec!!  Fuck that shit, I'm giving Jorgie at Toysport a call; so I did and what do you know, he had everything, the 20 valve, US spec supercharge and my dream the jap spec supercharger and it was a late 94 model, so the following day I sent him a deposit in order to protect it from sticky palms, then I asked a friend to charge it for me.  It had no computer, or harness, but I didn't care.  The engine arrived a week and 1/2 later, but I didn't know due to the fact I wasn't home at the time, so my cousin refused to sign for it (no extra charge, I was pissed) cause then I had to go to NJ and pay toll to pick up my engine. When I saw the motor and how clean it was, I could have bussed a nut,  my friend and fellow crew member kissed it.  I quickly disassembled it and sent the head out for a make over 3 angle job, match port, new bearings and rings from toysport, HKS cams, AEM sprockets.  A friend of mine had a front wheel drive SC gearbox, which I swapped my HKS pulley for since I was getting a Cusco pulley straight out of Japan through Rampage Performance in Queens.  Light fly wheel from Jun, 6 puck clutch set up from SPI (Hubi or Mike) and a big tip Dunk excuse for engine mgt. I called up Ross, a very good guy from SDS in Canada and he sent me a direct fire system which should take of the sparks and gas and will eliminate toyota's very restrictive air box.

So stay tune.....This is going to be one mean mother and if that's not enough the twin charger system will be implemented.
