Intro:
This gray 94 Twin Turbo Supe aka science, is the top dog of the DV1 crew. It is owned by Marlon, the tall linky guy with his thumb up. On his right is the Chiney Jamaican madcanic and driver Roger the rabbit, got caught holding a juicy drum stick! ....ok ok, enough with the chicken, and back to the car. Just looking at this awesome machine from the outside, you would think its a stock supe, except for the big N1 exhaust tip at the back. A hood scope from an all track, a gigantic inter cooler hidden behind a few yards of mesh and fog lamp set up in the opening of the bumper. Since this is a daily driver, He refused to put flashy unnecessary graphics or stickers for unwanted attention. Low key as it seems, it fitted to say looks are deceiving, because this machine is a 10 second bastard!! yes a 10 sec bastard....don't let me repeat again, just keep on reading:) This car is the fastest street legal car in bklyn, NY without the aid of the juice bottle. Alot of guys doubt it and swear we are squeezing, after money is taken. ask if we care? Do you? fuck no! Do you lose sleep at night, hell fucking no! , but the soar losers does wonder. How the hell they have the same setup as the (science) and can't beat us nor it's time. Same setup? Ha! don't make me laugh. The only thing we have to say is pay attention, do your home work and spend wisely.
As a lover of the Toyota supes, Marlon was looking for a faster supe than the "88" one he had. He lucked out where he found the "94 science supe at a local auction with only a few nicks and nacks and a 1000 miles on the clock. After all the undesirable bangs and dents was repaired, he couldn't leave well enough alone.
Stepping up, stage I: Restporty System
The first modification that was done, was the exhaust plus intake system. An HKS Dragger catback system was purchased coupled with the HKS power flow for better breathing. Heck! this not nuff.
The next level, stage 2: Alphabet soup
This was the time for some real up grade, from here on there were no looking back. It was time to move on up like the Jefferson. A host of goodies was purchased, a fuel cut defenser (FCD), electronic valve controller (EVC), Vain pressure control (PVC), R.C throttle body, which was tossed for a stock one because it had the car idling too high, a 3 down pipe from toyomoto, a huge inter cooler, Nitto drag radials and a few gallons of 116 octane fuel, and off to the track. At the track (Island Drag Way) a shitty track, before you could enter the ground you would have sigh away your life in case of any accident, they are not responsible. Any way after a few poke and tightening, Roger decided to go line up. Everything went well and our best time was 12.30@121mph.
Bigger and Better things, stage 3: Brain Storm
With the car running the way it was Marlon
was ever more up beat than ever because of the potential of the Supe.
The computer was removed for a up grade from G.force. After the new
computer was installed, we took the car back to the track and ran a time
of 12.10@122mph. From there on the rumors started about the juice
bottle. (Jealous!) The car was running consistent 12's. One
week while we were preparing the car for a up coming event we noticed the
car wasn't boosting past 15 psi. We pulled down every electronic
gadget and checked every hose in the car and still couldn't get an answer.
After all was said and done, we decided to take it to rampage, the local
dyno shop in Queens NY. Once the car was strapped on the dyno, and
a few pull was made, the car was still stuck on 15 psi, built what really
surprise us is the fact that the car was making 410hp and about 430lbs
of torque at the wheels. On the final pull, the graph on the dyno
showed a huge drop off in power where it was time for the second turbo
to chip in. After a few more inspection, we concluded the 2nd turbo
was dead, so Marlon made a quick call to a friend at Toyota for a fresh
set of turbos which were installed with a quickness and back on the track
at Atco Raceway in NJ where he ran a 11.71@123mph on drag radials and boost
set at 23psi. End of 98 season.
Stage 4: 10 Second Bastard
Before the start of the 99 IDRC, Marlon, Roger and the DV1 crew were real optimistic because of how well we completed the 98 season. This season we were looking for even better numbers, because some up grades were made. The first up grade that was made was to the exhaust again, we replaced the dragger from HKS with an N1 system from Apex, then we got really serious. Marlon broke into his piggy bank and gave Mr Craig Paisley a call (8 second supe). A few weeks after a lot of wheeling and dealing and a little begging, we got a set of HKS twin turbo ball bearing setup, with the HKS fuel rail, 6 Greddy 720cc injectors for a fair price. We went out and got 2 bosh pump and installed them parallel of each other. Both pump feed through a number 8 line straight to the fuel rail, which is regulated by a Paxton regulator. An RPS clutch was installed along with a set of eiback spring, HKS boost gauge, and a egt gauge. Hmm....... Now the stage in set. Not being too fund of the dyno, we took the car on a little test run around Marlon home, Roger moved the car in a slow roll then punched it and the drag radials was screeching from 1 to 3rd gear, but we had to stop, because we reached the intersection plus the smoky was peeping us as we got to the intersection. Smoky was peeping us as we got to the intersetion, so being extra cautious, we pulled in an empty lot and BS until they left. Roger blazed the road back to Marlon home. The following day with no time to tune the car properly, we took the car to English town, and lined up beside another supe. The first burnout Roger did, we thought it was V8 cause he left so much smoke behind and rolled half way down the track. By the time he backed up to position, the tree dropped and the next supe took off. Roger took off after and caught him with a 11.30@126mph. After the run we got kicked off the track being that we had no roll cage, kill switch and fire suite, ect. With a lot of begging and lying, we got a second chance. We lined up again with the same supe cause he had a similar setup, but this time he really got smoked. He smoked with a clip of 10.99@131mph on drag radials and no juice. Two weeks later we tried to better our time but failed due to over boost causing the oil return hose to blow off there by causing blow by causing detonation. And you can guess the rest. Hey, why so glummy, a new block from Toyota was purchased and assembled so here we come again. 2000, it's on.
