Thomas: what's up man.
Lloyd: Nice ride, I got one too
Thomas: yeah! what year?
Lloyd: White 83, but its fully worked, where did yoou get your springs, and what drop is it?
Thomas: I cut them
Lloyd: No shit!
Thomas: I did them myself. I cut one coil off the front and two from the back.
Lloyd: Wicked! Is this your first Yota?
Thomas: Nah! This is actually my second. They stole the first one which was red.
Lloyd: That's fucked up. Besides the springs, what other performance was done?
Thomas:
Well, nothing much, only a monza exhaust was added, and I plan to put some
stiffer bushing.
That was it. The
weekend came, and the car went up on the four stands and never came back
down until now. Thomas wasn't wasting time though...the car
sat for a while so he could make up his mind what to do next.
At the time, Thomas decided he wanted a little bit more " get up" in the
motor so he asked me for some ideas. He was in luck, because I had
a few performance stuff laying around, so I decided to sell him them for
1/2 the
cost. He bought
my 10lbs HKS flywheel, and a dual friction center force clutch. We
then met up with Darren and he told us about L.C. engineering.
L.C. specialized in 22R blocks, so Thomas decide to drop his motor and
ship it off to L.C. The block was bored 94milover to accomodate the
10:5:1 forge oversize pistons from JE. A few weeks later, the head
was shipped to L.C after the block was returned. The head got a EFI
Pro-treatment. What is that? It's when everything is done to
the head (special over size, valve, dual valve springs, valve seats
fully machine for oversize valve, special gind cam ect.) for more
information check L.C. website. After all was done and everything
was returned to Thomas, he and I took the block to a machine specialist
in new Jersey called " Gemeni." They assembled bottom end. After
Thomas found out he could get more power via force induction, he decided
to break into the piggy bank once again. He sent the head off to be redone
by a local guru known as P.Gee Performance (surgeon Doctor scott).
After the head was redone, It looked wicked. From there a special
cam was grind for turbo use by LC. For fuel + ignition SDS system
was purchased. The block was sent to LC for a turbo block swap.
The block and all engine parts was taken to Lars of Scorpian Race engines
for proper massage and total assembly. Measurement was also given
by race tech for a similar turbo header set up[. TO4E turbo was bought
from Turbonetic , RC injectors, Hks sequential blow off valve, EVC easy,
HKS turbo time, auto meter, air ratio meter, a bell intercooler core, bigger
throttle boody, k&N filter charger, and a whole lot of other
goodies--target hp 400+. Some supra guys aroung here
are doubting the capability of the 22R, some even started licking their
chops for a piece of this car. But there is a saying from way back
"Be careful of what you wish for, you might just get it." When
a black panther strikes, it strikes hard, swiff, and vicious.
Thomas is a welder and all the crafty plumbing, down pipe, turbo header, intercooler and exhaust was done by him. Saved himself a lot of money with his knowledge metals and of the art of welding.
At this point all is done except for the installation of the SDS computer, so the car is on the way to the shop for completion and a new paint job. JC Performace will be doing the installation and it will be complete within a couple of weeks. Stay tuned........
