and
SPI connection
This smashing pearl white turbo Mr;2 belongs to my friend Mike, the
guy in the red withh his fingers sticking up. He's from SPi in Queens NY.
Yeah! yeah i
know, you might have seen it on some sites or flyers or whatever. The
difference is we at Div1 has the inside scoop. Like for instance, this
was
purchased as a N/a with a 2.2 liter motor. The beautiful paint job
with the 3000GT head light conversion, was done by FD body works.
The engeen you see on this stand is also tricked up a little. The bottom
end is from the n/a mr2, its coupled with the 3sgt head. The head is basicaly
stock, except
some mild porting to the intake and exaust, and a 3angle valve job.
The stock camgears were ditched for some supra ones courtesy of Unortherdox
raceing. The
intake has been modified by splicing the n/a and the 3sgt manifold
in order to work with this wild set up.The injectors were upgrded
to 370cc, from the Lexus Sc300.
The slamming body kit is from Bomex. This includes: side mirrows, side
skirts + bumper, a ram air type scoop to feed the APEXi intake some well
deserved fresh air.
Inside the cocpit was given a more no nonsence look, with the addition
of a set of red Sparco Turino seats, Sparco steering wheel, shift knob, and
pedals. To monitor
the engeen a cluster of APEXi guages were added: from f/p guages (fuel
presure), op( oil), egt, boots, up to a huge TAC meter. To control the
boots, an AVRC boots
controller was used, and the fuel curve is been controlled by SUPER
AFCunit. A JZ intercooler was used to chill the air coming from the GREEDY
turbo kit; which
includes a T67 turbo, stainless steel turbo header, 3" down pipe, and
a huge wastegate. To dispence unwanted gas a 3" APEXi GT spec exhaust was
utilized.
Suspension and brakeing is very important once you step up in power.
Once you power up, those two has to be upgraded, which is Mike done. To
keep the car firm on
the road and handles, like a train on its tracks, a set of APEXi N1
racing coil overs were introduced, along with some wicked bronze colored
Volk rims: 17/8" wrapped
with some 215/40 Sumotto up front and round back 17/9.5 with 245/40.
The brake + pads were custom made by APEXi, and the rotors are from Power
slot.
Don’t ask me how much power its producing because, not even the owner
knows. But as soon as the carillo rods and JE pistons that was on
the desk in front of me
installed; it will be dynoed. Wright now its moving good with at 18psi.
What a rush! Lloyd@DivisionOne.org giving you the inside scoop.
Stay Toyota.......
