Sleeper Tacoma

If you were to pull up at a stop sign one late night; you and your girl chillin in your suped up V-TECH ,and this plain looking Tacoma should pull up along side you and started revving up, what would you do?. The first thing you would do if you had an ego, would be to look at your girl and laugh, knowing you’re going to blow this pickup away until the light change and tire smoke everywhere; choking you and left your girl picking burnt rubber from her hair. RACE DONE.

This truck was so awesome at Etown, we at Div1 had to give it nuff props.  Paul and Annie represented  the TRD tent with there sleeper looking 97 truck. When I saw the Tacoma lining up waiting its turn to run, I asked myself? why is this slow ass truck wearing slicks?, probably in the 18sec range. Making matters worse he was lining up with the pros. I personally thought it was a joke, due to the plain Jane look. Boy was I ever wrong!. The first thing that wowed me was the massive burned out it did, had me choking on my orange soda. The burn out was so impressive it had me scrambling for my camera, but by the time I got the camera and aim , the truck was already staging up. What really knocked me off my seat  was seeing the clock stop at 11.8`s,with a speed of  120+ mph. I was like " oh shit!, no fucking way! nah!, I had to see what’s beneath the hood. The truck didn’t sound loud at all, only a deep rumbling sound and it looked so easy going down the track . It didn’t even looked like it would trip the clock at 13`s much less11`s. After few more pros run, i went back to the TRD tent, where I met and spoke with Paul; the owner+ driver of the 11sec sleeper. At this time he was elbow deep in the gut of the
truck changing some spark plugs.

I introduced myself and told him about our Toyota club site, then asked if I could take some pic for the site. He was really polite and granted my request. While taking the pic, I started asking some questions. That’s when I found out the motor was bone stock, with a 75 shot of juice in the rear of the truck. The boots was pumped to 10psi via a smaller sc pulley. The gas is mixed with c60 and a TRD header was added + 3" exhaust pipe to help the motor breath. Paul best time so far was a 11.68 in Palm Dale Cali at test and tune. Paul also told me that all these run was made with a stock ecu, fuel pump, intake and filter. I don’t know about you, but I think this is impressive because most cars that’s running 11`s has extensive internal + bolt-ons. ( HONDAS). Stay tuned to the inside scoop for more info as we get it. YOTA RULES.
