THE BIG SHOOT OUT AT OLD BRIDGE TOWN
WRITTEN BY:  Lloyd Moore

Yep! We reckon we're a tad late, but we promises from here on we aim to get back on track with all the goodies you came to expect from our crew here at DV1. We also like to extend our apologies to all the promoters and Toyota fans who've been showing us support over the years. Now that all the apologies are out of the way, its time to get down or should I say get up  to business with the task at hand.

Gather round all you youngins while this old geyser make an attempted in telling yew about a tale of the biggest shoot out ever to take place in old bridge town's history. It was a sight to behold, an event to remember, a dozy for the old noggin for decades to come. Every year things seems to get bigger and more hectic, as them so call rice burners gets faster & faster. Things started getting crazy on the 3rd of may 2003, just before dawn when the heavy hitters rolled into town. They wasted little time pitching them big old tents all over English towns parking lot. They were getting set to kick off one of the biggest, roughest, toughest, all out no holds bar winner takes all two days shoot out ever to hit the east coast.

There were couple of new faces we didn't recognized, while there wuz the old favorites who've shed their old skins for new ones, like the Bullish team who is now been sponsored  by street glow as they brandish their new color schemes, while  Rado decided to ditch his last year Driver f/x sponsor ship with the green, white & blue colors and went full mid night black with his original logo. Them good old boys from turbonetics also decided to shed their old skin as well as their V8 power plant down to a V6 motor. Although they step down a few cubic inches, that makes them no less dangerous because its still slicker than snort and as fast as a bat outer hell. If I were them good old pro stock boys, I wouldn't sleep on these ricers because them critters are some of the slickest, fastest, six shooters, four bangers and rotary we've ever laid eyes on. Them critters are so fast, the Road Runner, Speedy Gonzales, nor Bing-bing-bing! ricochet rabbit has nothing on then pole cats.

We ain't too particularly fond of honda in this here parts, but we decided to show some of the sacrificial lamb to the slaughter, like Kenny Trann's new front wheel drive civic & his six cylinder twin turbo drag Integra?!

This strapping young fella is Grant Doweling from the poisonous Venom clan, poseing beside his six seconds 200+mph truck.

The twin turbo you see here belongs to Jimmy "O" Connor, also a member of the poisonous Venom clan. This car is currently in the mid 8's and hoping for mid to high 7's by season ending.

This butte here belongs to Paul Efantis of the MSP gang. He is one of Jimmy's toughest competitors in this event, and he ain't even the fastest critter either. You all know that we are yota-heads but we have to give props to them  nasty nissan & rotary boys, cause they give us hell in this here modified class every year.

This is Jim Brown's civic. I think he is also new, but the K & N RX7 is no stranger to this kinda show down. The blue supe belongs to Vinny 10, the first ever to hit the 10's in a supra. He is kind of a local hero, but his machine still has a few bugs to be straighten out.

To show you how big this was, HKS decided to bring along it's eight shooter all the way from Japan the land of the rising sun. Last year was the six shooting track blazing Silvia, and now is the v8 supra turn to try and hit the 200+mph mark here in the dirty west.

No it wasn't actually competing, but it did put on a show for the fans during it's exhibition passes. I kinda wish it was here last year when NHRA had the v8 class so it could've competed.

There weren't only go fast cars at this event, no-sir-re-bob! There were lots of handsome & slick looking show cars, stunt motor bikers, cyclist & roller bladers, with lots of really hot looking half naked young gals showing off their stuff in the bikini contest. This type of competition & excitement could short circuit an old geezer's pacemaker.
