Man I never thought my engine build up would take almost two years to complete. Having to order custom parts and Lars moving to a bigger place last year, progress took longer then expected. Since this was the case, I thought about doing something to the body of Terzilla so I can at least show something different from all the time I been out of the loop.
I already knew who I wanted to have paint the car and I was already on the waiting list to bring it in. Lafayette Kustoms was my choice, which was strongly based on the work and restoration of other car projects. I wasn't sure what I wanted but I knew I wanted to keep the car its original green plus make it stand out a little but not too much. I wanted a body kit, and rear spoiler and was searching the internet high and dry for something different. I purchased a Wing West ground spoiler kit, but once I took it out of the box I wasn't sure if I wanted to commit to using it. After three days of yes then no, I decided that I could not live with the decision of keeping it, so I used ebay to salvage most of my money back. I pretty much did the same with the rear spoiler and just could not find any thing I liked or looked good on the car. After two months of trying, I decided to go with out a kit or rear spoiler.
To be honest, I wasn't sure of a lot of things. I had Al cut up my bumper for the new mesh and fogs. I was suppose to mount the fogs underneath like everyone else, but of cause I like to be different so I took a chance to have them mounted into the bumper. Man, these were the ugly stages and I was never a 100% about the out come of all this work. Even when the car was all primed, I just could not get a visual on the situation.
I purchased a few unique parts such as, mdx antenna, 15” led light, MCS Catz fogs, hood vents from a Nissian 280z, JDM clear corner lens purchased from EL Prototypes, bumper spoiler lip from a VW Passat, and mirrors from an EP82 which was sent to me from Spy in Jamaica. I came up with the idea to do the blue 2 tone graphic from a road race Mustang magazine, but it took me a while to decide on which color to two tone with. Even after choosing blue, I had a lot of blues to choose from. I felt best going with a Ford blue which was a close look to Anodize blue.
I will never forget the feeling I had when I did walk into the shop and seeing my car painted for the first time. Brian was wet sanding it at the time and I was amazed. I thought it was neat, but needed reassurance from the guys. I was looking at only part of the picture because the hood vents, grill and bumper were not yet painted or on the car. About a week later it was all finished, and it was true love for the new Terzilla look. I rushed home to fit my 205/17/40 BFG Scothers mounted on Koning Toxxins in which I had them paint the center caps trim the matching blue.
I quickly made arrangements to bring my baby home then awaited for Lars to finish my motor.
